Alicia Thomas-Woolf is a Wordweaver. She creates revolving tapestries of words in various colours, flavours and textures: vocally, aurally, visually, musically and consciously. These words manifest in her various linguistic roles of author, poet, singer/songwriter, publisher and NLP life coach / practitioner.
Alicia graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 1997, with majors in Linguistics, English and Applied English. She opened her publishing company, ada enup, in 1999. Later, amongst other courses, she studied NLP with Sedrick Theodosiou, celebrated NLP master trainer.
Within her role as a publisher for Intersoft, she ghost-wrote The Right Mind for Golf and From the Classroom: Microsoft IT Academy, as well as created the Southern African IT editions of the IDG …For Dummies series, and Que Publishing’s 10 Minute guides.
As a publisher with her own company, ada enup (which stands for A Daring Adventure to Enchant and Uplift), she publishes books with content that has almost always never been published before, books that have a major impact within their relevant areas in South Africa. These books include the first ever book for the South African music industry, The South African Music Business, a nearly 700 page tome by producer and lecturer Jonathan Shaw that covers all areas of the industry and has become known as the ‘bible’ of the SA music industry; Taxi Hand Signs, the first and only book for millions of SA mini-taxi commuters that collates hand signs and destinations, researched and illustrated by international fine artist Susan Woolf; AmaZizi: The Dlamini of Southern Africa, again the first book to comprehensively tackle the genealogy, history and culture of the AmaZizi people and related groups; and the National Eisteddfod Academy Anthology, which was the first book to contain poetry graded and style-classified in all 11 official South African languages, as well as the first to have a comprehensive essay on how to teach praise poetry. Through ada enup, Alicia also supports universities, tertiary educators, lecturers and writers who wish to self-publish with advice (courses and consulting) and / or publishing.
As a writer, Alicia channels her work through her publishing company. She has authored short stories Cheery Red, The Mysterious Jagg, Options and poetry book I Spy . She has collaborated on an art book with fine artist Lesley Anne Price, where her words were written to complement Price’s photography. Her upcoming release is Innerone, which has already garnered much advance praise and will be released in the States. In between the moments, she is working on a history, a fantasy and new editions of several books.
For nearly a decade Alicia has been deeply involved in Neuro Linguistic Programming, finding much joy in working with others to transform and shift as is wanted. Aside from coaching in person and over the internet, she also lectures on using magical NLP language to assist parents in communicating with their children, and teachers with their classes, in play schools and nursery schools.
Alicia has created a systemic anti-bullying prevention technique called Powerful, (a book/song/action combination) for three year olds and upwards, using words, song and dance. She now spends most of her time on this and has helped thousands of children in South Africa, working with different schools and SOS Villages.
